Installing the Printer Software About the Installer Use the Installer to install the printer software on your system. The Installer copies the printer drivers (Serial and AppleTalk®) and background printing files to the correct locations in your System Folder. If the installer finds a file that has the same name as the one it is installing, it replaces that file with the most current version. System 7.1 Installer Information When the Installer installs the printer software on your hard disk, it also increases the Finder’s memory allocation to 400K for System 7.1 or newer versions. Using the Easy Install The driver installer provides two options: Easy Install and Customize. Use the Easy Install option to install all of the printer software in the correct locations on your hard disk. To use the Easy option, follow these steps: 1. Start or Restart your computer while holding down the Shift key. This turns off any system extensions that might cause conflicts during the installation process. 2.
